Jazz musicians selected for state all-collegiate ensemble

Northwest trombonist Veeder Ransom, a sophomore education major from Grain Valley, was selected for the 2010 Missouri All-Collegiate Jazz Ensemble. In addition, Northwest bass player Matt McGrory, a senior education major Leawood, Kan., was selected as an alternate.

Samudzi presents at National Association for Gifted Children conference

Dr. Cleo Samudzi, dean of the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing, gave two presentations at the National Association for Gifted Children’s 56th annual conference. The conference was Nov. 5-8 in St. Louis. The titles of the presentations were “A Prototype Special Program for Gifted High School Students” and “Early College for Science Talented Adolescents: A Best Option for Whom?”
